Nothing is by coincidence.
Everything is by design.
I wrote this book four times.
The first version was deleted. The second was lost. The third, I walked away from completely. For a long time, I thought I was failing the book.
What I didn't understand yet — the book was waiting for me to become the person capable of finishing it.
This is not a book I decided to write.
This is a book I lived long enough to finish.
BY DESIGN is 194 pages of memoir, poetry, philosophy, and spiritual blueprint — written across a lifetime, not just on paper. Six sections. 142 pieces. One unbroken arc from fragmentation to sovereignty.
WHAT LIVES INSIDE IT
Six sections documenting the collapse and reconstruction of a human life. 142 pieces written across real-time transformation — not reflection alone. Poetry, philosophy, and lived experience fused into one continuous process. The movement from survival identity to sovereign self.
If you've lived something you couldn't name —
this is where it becomes legible.
The Man Behind The Work
In 2022, I made a decision that didn't make sense to anyone around me. I stopped making music. Twelve years of creating — gone. Not because it failed. Because I knew if I held onto what I was good at, I would never reach what I was actually here to build.
What followed was the most compressed season of my life. I was sleeping in my mother's car. On the beach in Miami. Showering at Planet Fitness. Moving between spaces, identities, and versions of myself.
Every day — I was writing.
One night, I was in a club through my modeling agency work.
May 9th, 2023. I had been standing by a section for hours when something in me said to move — cross the room, rest my legs, find an empty seat directly across. Within moments of separating from where I had just been: multiple shots fired. Automatic weapon. No initial panic. Survival instinct crouched me low, scanned the room, found the exit. I was the second person out of the building.
And then I watched as a man died on a stretcher from the very spot I had occupied forty-six seconds before.
That night, what I understood about design went deeper than anything I could have written. Timing became divine down to fractions. I saw how I had been trained — in response, in reaction, in the quiet instinct that moves you before your mind understands why. That was the moment I stopped negotiating with misalignment. Whatever was not aligned with my highest self — I moved away from it. No exceptions.
I had already decided to leave America. Before I did, I came back to New York to spend time with my entire family — one last time before going. I tried to rebuild with my parents one final time. It fell apart in minutes.
That wasn't why I left. But it confirmed what I already knew: I wasn't running from something. I was moving toward something I couldn't reach from where I was standing.
So I left. First Bangkok. Then Bali — with less than $300, no plan, and everything I had learned compressed into one decision: trust what I feel, or stay where I know I don't belong.
Bali was the first place that felt like it recognized me.
I slowed down. I fasted. I meditated. I wrote every single day. And then I had a dream. My ancestors came to me and gave me a name.
ỌBÁWỌLÚ.
Not something I created.
Something I remembered.
This version of BY DESIGN is the first time the life and the message arrived at the same time. Every version before this was written from understanding. This one is written from embodiment.
Nothing that happened was random. Not the loss. Not the delays. Not the pressure. It was all part of the design.

The Reason For The Work
Most people experience suffering and stop at survival. They cope. They numb. They adapt just enough to keep moving. But they never return to ask: what was this shaping me into?
BY DESIGN exists for that question. Not to glorify pain — but to reveal what was always operating underneath it. Not theory. Not motivation. Not something borrowed from another life. This is what it looks like when a life is examined all the way through.
You were never just reacting to life.
You were being refined by it.
There comes a point where you stop asking why did this happen to me and start seeing what did this make possible. That shift is not passive. It is not inspiration. It is a confrontation — with your own history, your own design, your own power.
This book is that confrontation, documented.
This is not content.
This is ceremony. This is confrontation. This is remembrance.
The Architecture of the Work
Six sections. Not chapters — states of becoming. Each one marks a shift. Each carries its own weight.
The soul arriving before it understands where it has landed. A dream of ancestors who do not speak but watch. A letter written to children not yet born. The estrangement carried like a second skin — familiar, wordless, heavy. This is where the reaching begins. Before the design reveals itself. Before the name arrives.
The inner world, entered without avoidance. The family. The patterns. The inherited architecture of wound and love. This is where the truth stops being comfortable — and where the real work begins.
The astronomical moment when a planet passes through the exact heart of the sun — not destroyed, but transformed. Identity enters the fire here. What survives is not what you expected to keep. This is alchemy in real time. Not reflection. Happening.
The body remembers what the mind tries to move past. What lives in you did not start with you. Lineage. History. Memory carried through blood across generations. This is where the personal becomes collective — and clarity becomes responsibility.
Love examined beyond attachment. Connection without possession. Devotion without control. Jada. Carmen. Mandisa. Each one a different frequency of the same truth. The understanding that love is not something you hold — it is something you move through, across time, across forms, across lifetimes.
Everything that felt like loss becomes visible as direction. Every version of you that had to fall apart reveals what it was clearing space for. This is not becoming something new. This is remembering what you always were.
This is not a book you read once.
It is something you return to at different stages of your life — and it reveals something different each time.
Sacred Reciprocity
This book does not end with the last page.
A percentage of every copy of BY DESIGN goes toward R.I.S.E — Reclaiming Identity, Sovereignty & Elevation. A Pan-African liberation nonprofit and permanent institution being built to restore African youth through access, identity, and sovereignty. Not a community center. A temple of possibility.
This work is also connected to Youth and the Future — an initiative led by Princess Abumbi Prudence serving the youth of the Bafut region in Cameroon. A principled, ground-level commitment to ensuring that the next generation inherits access, not just aspiration.
The organization behind this mission is R.I.S.E — Reclaiming Identity, Sovereignty & Elevation. A Pan-African liberation nonprofit whose flagship center will be established in Accra, Ghana. Not a charity. Not a concept. A permanent institution built from the inside out — with a library, a creative studio, financial sovereignty infrastructure, and a wellness center. The book is the testimony. R.I.S.E is the return.
In the Andean tradition, there is a principle called ayni — sacred reciprocity. You do not take without giving. You do not receive without returning.
I received from life — from estrangement, from fire, from loss, from the ancestors who came in the dream and initiated me into a name they had been holding until I was ready to carry it. And I return it: in language, in story, in action. The community center is that extension. The mission is that return.
Because healing that stays with you alone is incomplete. What is restored within must eventually become something that restores others.
This is not separate from the message. This is the message.
The future is not something we wait for.
It is something we build.
The Work In Motion
This is not a concept. This is a book in production. Here is exactly where it stands.
194 pages. Six sections. 142 pieces. The full arc — written, ordered, and sealed.
Every section. Every piece. Named with intention.
The interior of the book is being formatted and designed — the architecture of how the words live on the page.
The cover is being developed. The face of the work — being built with the same intentionality as everything inside it.
A private, unrecorded evening with Ọbáwọlú — before the book reaches the world.
BY DESIGN reaches the world.

Before The Book Reaches The World
This is not a promotional event. It is not a summary of the book. It is the conversation that happens before the book — the kind that only exists once, between people who chose to show up.
Ọbáwọlú will take you inside BY DESIGN — the story behind the work, what it cost him to make it, the mission of R.I.S.E, and the framework at the heart of it all: fragmentation to sovereignty, sacred reciprocity, love as alchemy, and what it means to live by design, not by default.
THE EVENING
Four attempts. Lost drafts. A near-death moment. A dream in Bali where the ancestors gave him a name.
Six sections. 142 pieces. One arc — from fragmentation to sovereignty.
The Ghana community center, YouthsAndTheFuture in Cameroon, and the principle of ayni that runs through all of it.
Bring what you carry. This is a real conversation with limited people in the room.
This will not be recorded.
What happens inside this evening stays with the people who were there. Spots are genuinely limited. If you feel called to be in the room — this is the sign.
